After nearly 40 years, Dr. John Drake, a well-known and highly respected, board certified orthopaedic surgeon in the community, has announced he will retire from active practice with Bienville Orthopaedics on December 31, 2019.
Dr. Drake is looking forward to spending more time with his wife, Debbie, of 45 years, his three children, and 3 grandchildren.
A graduate of the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Dr. Drake completed an internship at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, TX, followed by an orthopaedic residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He then continued his training with an AO Fellowship at the University of Basel, Basel, Switzerland in 1980 and a Trauma Fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 1981. Following his fellowship training, Dr. Drake moved to Ocean Springs, MS and established Bienville Orthopaedic Specialists. Over the course of his career, Dr. Drake has become one of Mississippi’s most experienced surgeons in the area of total joint replacement and also served as a former president of the Mississippi Orthopaedic Society. “I’m not only proud of the personalized care we’ve been able to maintain as we’ve grown to become the largest orthopaedic group in the state, but also the continuous delivery of the latest techniques and technology we’ve brought to the region,” says Dr. Drake.
In a recent letter sent to his patients announcing his retirement, Dr. Drake praised his practice partners as highly recommended, board-certified specialists in Orthopaedic Surgery with the same commitment to excellence and standards of high quality healthcare.
